The Gambler - Part III - Dost Thou Wish To Live Deliciously?
What is it about the crossroads of Needs and Desires (the Nauthiz Rune) that is so enticing to explore, so delicious to taste like a slightly over-ripe peach you bite into viciously with its essence streaming down your chin in a Summer Child's delight. I don't know if this an actual question or, in fact, a fucking quest and make no mistake, dear reader, you too, will take it. You ARE human - that is part of this life, you know, the garden of earthly delights is for us to enjoy - why else did we agree to this horseshit agreement in the first place?
If you're a rune practitioner, and not say, of the tarot persuasion, what if I told you the Nauthiz rune was XV in the tarot? That which beckons us to our own inner crossroads, where our desires and needs meet in the fires of our destiny. I'll remind you yet again of the pieces I've written about CHOICE. I ain't even gonna link it - search it - if you're a lazy fuck, these pieces aren't for you anyways.
Let's talk about that for a minute, the crossroads. There are quite a few traditions on this incredible planet of ours that have beings that can assist us, trick us, and illuminate us at the crossroads. I do love the ATRs and Eshu Elegua - in a very honest question, he asks, "Is this REALLY what you want?" I've never encountered a crossroads guide so blatant. Whenever I see a banana peel on the sidewalk, my mind instantaneously goes to him, and I offer thanks. What a gift.
Anyways, about that crossroads that lives within you, within me. That intersection of need and desire. As someone who's heart, throat, and crown are so top heavy, that only Pachamama herself could ground me, believe me - I live and honor that those two concepts can merge and then diverge. What's the fuel you have, though, for this journey? Should we start there? That's your ancestral practice, and if you wish to skip that, then these pieces ain't for you either - and if you resent that, then maybe this ain't for you either.
So, how do you not compromise yourself when that's all you've got in this journey walking with the living, with the dead, and the divine? That's what I am exploring now with mediumship - a gift I've always had and shelved because I didn't grow up in a tradition that assists children with these gifts - it's been robbed, raped, stolen, and suppressed from us - the northern European traditions - until NOW.
I recalled performing a ceremony two years ago for my Cherusci tribal ancestors - reclaiming who we were before Rome - and anyone finding this piece, I urge you to do the same. Rome and the Greek philosophers replaced the Oracular tradition of women, and I am here to offer a divine rebuttal that shatters illusions, thus the title of this piece.
Yes, it's true, women who were Oracles were typically post-menopausal and celibate. They also weren't oracles forever either - they gained and held property post their service. Living deliciously indeed - that's why the masculine so-called "philosophers" had to discredit this entire genre. Does this sound familiar? It sure as fuck should - even to the red-hats amongst us - the discrediting of trades of those that serve the community versus academic study. This isn't to say academic study is something antithetical, far from it, I have a Master's in Chemistry. I tell you truly, that degree didn't just grow on a tree - it was EARNED.
Now back to the Devil in the tarot - the bastardization of gods like Pan - that's some Puritanical bullshit - which is interesting since most of their "You're a Witch!" declarations ended in sexual torture which they delighted in. Visions are an interesting thing, not just from past lives but from the land and the indigenous that walked at one point. The Salem Witch trials touched so much more than the accused - perhaps one day I'll write about what I've been shown - not today.
So you're at the crossroads of need and desire - well, what is that for you? The greater question to ask is, "Does this compromise my integrity?" or "Will I look upon this decision fondly in the future?" I find that those two questions, more often than not, are the ones needing answering. Maybe ask what would Odin do? Let's get into that, shall we?
The Odin I know, isn't the one that SEAL Team 8 knows - the bastardized masculine version that they're running towards with their Fortune Favors the Bold bullshit. Odin sacrificed himself to the divine feminine for the hope, a glimpse of the vision that the feminine possesses. The SEALS ain't about to talk about that now, are they? That's actually who inhabits Valhalla by the way.. oopsies dipshits..
Fortune doesn't favor the bold, dear reader, it favors the brave, - the ones who KNOW what they face, and are afraid and yet answer the call anyway. I think often of Psalms 5:7 - "But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple." If you have ever met the Divine, regardless of form, this verse rattles deep in the very bones that allow you to be erect. Interestingly enough, my interactions with the divine of the Northern tradition of my ancestors feel precisely as such, ancestral.
Before Loki was bound and punished for what he did to Baldur, he states aloud, the gods' fathering of earthly children. He spoke not of the goddesses who may have done so also. Perhaps they wanted simply to dance with someone who loved them in a way they had never experienced before - and this most certainly includes Frigg, a being so complex that one lifetime is simply not even remotely enough to contemplate, much less understand her. She, too, chose to live deliciously despite her sorrows and secrets.
Perhaps the gamble here is to gamble on yourself - where doest thou wish to live deliciously?
I leave you with Janet Jackson's Velvet Rope -
We have a special need
To feel that we belong
Come with me inside
Inside my velvet rope
We have a special need
To feel that we belong
Come with me inside
Inside my velvet rope
This special need
That's within us
Brings out the best
Yet worst in us
Follow the passion
That's within you
Living the truth
Will set you free
We have a special need
To feel that we belong
Come with me inside
Inside my velvet rope
We have a special need
To feel that we belong
Come with me inside
Inside my velvet rope
Put others down
To fill us up
Oppressing me
Will oppress you
Outside leave judgment
Outside leave hate
One love's the answer
You'll find in you
We have a special need
To feel that we belong
Come with me inside
Inside my velvet rope
We have a special need
To feel that we belong
Come with me inside
Inside my velvet rope
